Library Partnership with the GGG Stadtbibliothek Basel
The AWC is proud to have partnered with the GGG Stadtbibliothek to create the first English Public Library in Basel-Stadt. For over 10 years the organizations have worked together to offer the largest collection of English language adult and children's books and media in Basel. The Library's catalog includes access to New York Times Best Sellers, current and past popular magazine editions as well as CD's, DVD's, and even board games.
Library membership includes access to apps such as the Libby app, a cutting edge e-reader, making borrowing e-books easier than ever.
Since 2012 the AWC, in collaboration with Centrepoint and the Anglican Church of Basel, have held an annual book sale to support the English programs of the GGG Stadtbibliothek Basel. This increasingly popular event is held in the spring and is open to the public, offering 1000s of used books for sale.
Smaller, in-person activities include children's story times and literary series events and workshops throughout the year. Your AWC membership includes a discount on annual library membership. Please visit the GGG website to learn more!
Join the GGG Stadtbibliothek | American Women's Club members are eligible to receive a discount of CHF 10.- on their library membership. Proof of club membership will need to be shown. To get a digital copy of your proof of membership, please visit your Profile on the AWC website or contact membership.awcbasel@gmail.com You may request a library card either online or in-person at any library branch. A valid official ID (ie. Identity card, driver’s license or passport) must also be shown at the library. |
With Click and Collect, a new service at the GGG Stadtbibliothek Basel, simply order online and pick up at the library nearest you. You can order conveniently and around the clock using the online catalogue. After logging in to your library account, using your customer number from your library card and your password – your date of birth in DDMMYY format – select your medium of choice and place your order. You will be automatically guided through the ordering process. Up to five media can be processed per order. Your order will be processed immediately and made available to you within a few days. Cost for the Click & Collect service: CHF 1 per ordered medium. Library medium is also available in some locations for home delivery (additional fees apply). |
